SYDNEY, Asutralia (SONY Music Australia) - We're excited to announce multi-ARIA award winner and one of Oz's finest singer/songwriters, Alex Lloyd, has signed to the brand new SONY BMG Music Australia stable! Plans for Alex's fourth album are underway, fans can expect to hear new music soon.
One of Australia's finest singer songwriters, Alex Lloyd has signed a record deal to the newly formed Sony BMG Music Entertainment Australia.

Chairman & CEO of Sony BMG Music Entertainment Australia & NZ, Denis Handlin said: "I have enormous respect for Alex and have admired his music for many years. This is a significant signing for Sony BMG and I am thrilled at the opportunity to work with Alex and introduce his exciting new songs to the public."

Alex Lloyd who has sold over half a million records in Australia and won 4 x ARIA's, expressed his excitement at making the change to the newly formed company.

"After much deliberation, thought and discussion in regards to my new home as a singer songwriter, I am extremely positive about my decision to move to Sony BMG. Change can be scary but at the same time exciting and after talking with Denis Handlin and the A&R team, I feel as though Sony BMG is the best place for me to start this new chapter in my career. I look forward to meeting and working with the rest of the team at Sony BMG, new people and new ideas for this exciting phase of my career."

Following on from his highly acclaimed debut solo album, 'Black the Sun' in 1999, which saw Alex receive an ARIA for Best New artist in that same year and Best Male Artist in 2000, Alex went on to release 'Watching Angels Mend', which spawned the massive hit, 'Amazing'. The album went double platinum and the song was voted Song of the Year in 2001 on the Triple J top 100 and scored him the APRA Songwriter of the year in 2002.

'Watching Angels Mend' also gained Alex an ARIA for Best Male Artist for the second time in 2002, a title he took out again for the third time for 2003 with his latest album, 'Distant Light' - a record that in his words, is "song-wise, the best record I've made so far..."

Alex's plans for a new album are currently underway and fans can expect to hear music sometime in 2005.
