NEW YORK (Eagle Rock Ent./www.eaglerockent.com) - Eagle Rock Entertainment and Eagle Vision have established a relationship with Philips Electronics for the use of Eagle Rock's hi-definition DVD footage in the Philips demo reel for the CES convention, as well as other conventions and demonstrations world-wide throughout 2005. Joining the company of film studios like the Walt Disney Co., as well as 90 consumer electronics and PC manufacturers, this arrangement makes Eagle Rock Entertainment one of the first music companies to move into the hi-def DVD arena by utilizing the Blu-ray technology.
This new opportunity to market hi-definition DVDs will only serve to increase the growth potential of the DVD format. A higher quality than generic DVDs and equipped with extended storage capacity, the Blu-ray DVD format is only one of the platform options available in Hi-Definition DVD screening. The other leading contender is HD-DVD, who has already garnered support from various entertainment companies and studios.
Mike Carden, President of Operations Eagle Rock Entertainment North
America and Executive VP of the company, states, "As a leader in hi-definition music content, we will take advantage of all opportunities to expose our music to a wider audience. We are both thrilled and honored to have Philips using our hi-def original programming."
One of the largest holders of high definition music and documentary rights, Eagle Rock Entertainment is a leader in the music DVD market, releasing both documentary and live performance titles by music icons such as Eric Clapton, Miles Davis, The Who, Willie Nelson, Alicia Keys, Ray Charles, Snoop Dogg, Jewel, John Lee Hooker,
Pink Floyd & Alice Cooper, to name a few. All titles are digitally re-mastered in 5.1
Digital Surround Sound and DTS audio for the highest quality viewing experience. Philips will be using footage from Eagle Rock releases by The Pretenders, Yes and Mike & The Mechanics for their presentation reel.
Contributing to the production process is mediaHYPERIUM, a sound and video company owned by producer Herbert Waltl. The company works with Philips to act as a test bed for new equipment technology.

These titles included live performances by Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind & Fire, Charles Mingus, Gary Moore & The Midnight Blues Band, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Al Di Meola and Shane MacGowan & The Popes.
