New York, NY (Top40 Charts) From "Broadway," to "Slide," to "Iris," the love song from the film City of Angels that defined an entire generation, the Goo Goo Dolls' front man and guitarist John Rzeznik has penned some of the most captivativing rock songs of the past two decades. Now, as he and his band mates are about to embark on a worldwide tour to support their latest release Boxes, it seems only fitting that they should perform their hits in their most pure form - raw, full of emotion and completely stripped down.
And on Saturday, October 22, they are bringing their much-anticipated acoustic show to Harrah's Philadelphia's The Block as part of iHeartMedia Philadelphia's breast cancer benefit concert. During this rare performance, the multi-platinum artists will not only offers fans a night of chart-busting music in an intimate setting, but they will also raise money for the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the world's first and largest cancer research organization, by donating a portion of the proceeds from each ticket directly to AACR.
This exclusive show kicks off at 9 PM and will offer fans a rare "story teller" format, providing them with an inside look into the band's 30-somethng career through their vast catalog of songs and personal anecdotes about the inspiration behind the music and/or tour life throughout the years.
The Goo Goo Dolls' last acoustic run was in 2014 after they released their live EP Warner Sound Sessions. The feedback was so popular that the entire three-week tour sold out in minutes and fans were begging for more dates to be added.
