NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - Jim Carrey's latest movie "Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events" earned about 30.2 million US dollars to debut atop North America box office over the weekend, according to preliminary studio figures released Sunday.
The film, based on the first three children's books by Lemony Snicket, who is actually author Daniel Handler, unseated the star-studded sequel "Ocean's Twelve." ("Snicket's" follows the travails and adventures of the Baudelaire orphans).
