"The Art of Recording a Big Band" documentary film will have its world premiere where it was filmed, at Capitol Recording Studios in Hollywood. Available July 22 as an exclusive limited edition DVD release from Vintage King Audio, the film was directed by Shevy Shovlin during a two-day master class with acclaimed recording engineers Al Schmitt and Steve Genewick, and features Chris Walden's Grammy-nominated 18-piece jazz big band.

The film focuses on the studio method of legendary Al Schmitt, the most celebrated music engineer, producer and mixer of all time, the winner of 22 Grammy Awards. His most recent Grammy was awarded in 2012 for Paul McCartney's "Kisses on the Bottom." "We are really thrilled to have made this insider's documentary," remarked director Shevy Shovlin. "It's been my longtime dream to film Al in action - it's something for the ages."

During his distinguished career, Al Schmitt has recorded and mixed more than 150 Gold and Platinum albums. His credits include hit records with Henry Mancini, Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Sammy Davis, Jr., Natalie Cole, Thelonious Monk, Elvis Presley, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, and many more.

"The Art of Recording a Big Band" includes candid interviews with industry leaders such as Steve Genewick, Dave Pensado, Andrew Scheps, Paula Salvatore and more. The film opens with an introduction by Schmitt's longtime friend and collaborator, Quincy Jones.
