Melody Federer Stands Out With New Single "Standing"
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Singer-songwriter, Melody Federer released her new single, Standing, a captivating, raw, and emotion-filled song that perfectly captures lovers ability to transcend the difficulties that relationships bring. Standing marks Federers first release since her 2015 EP, New Fires, Old Flame. The single is now available for download on iTunes.

Standing captures the hearts of listeners as Federers honest vocals soar above a swirling guitar and violin track. Taking elements from country, jazz and folk, the gifted artist displays her strength despite adversity, repeating like a mantra, Here we are still standing. The track begins with a bare guitar line and launches into her passionate declaration of love despite complications, with which Federer is all too familiar. We've been through it all. Getting pregnant unexpectedly after dating only a few months, moving across the country, my fianc losing a job and the three of us having to start over, Federer recounts. But sometimes I feel like life breaks you down so you can find the truth of who you are, and start over from there, without all the ego and fear. Self produced and recorded in her home, Standing shows a development away from the pop-driven ballads of New Fires, Old Flame, and towards a more intimate, down-to-earth sound. As Federer describes, with this album I felt free to be led by feeling again.

Originally from Dallas, Melody Federer became enthralled with music on account of her father, a pastor, who taught her to sing and play hymns on guitar. At the young age of 20, she ran away to Paris, accompanied by a jazz pianist she met at a party in New York. During their time in France, the pair performed at festivals, in cafes and on the streets of Monmarte. After receiving a recording deal in Los Angeles, the duo left Paris, but soon found themselves unable to record an album due to insufficient funds. Melody broke from her partner and began to busking before securing a residency where she soon caught the ear of Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter, Billy Mann (P!nk, Robyn, Sting), who offered her a full-time publishing deal with his company Green & Bloom, a joint venture with BMG. Since her signing, she has written songs for top artists, including Kelly Rowland, Hilary Duff, and Jacob Whitesides. Federer moved to Nashville and continued to write, but quickly returned to LA, where she resides with her daughter. Federer has performed at legendary venues such as Hotel Caf, House of Blues, The Harvard Club, and events such as Paris Fashion Week for Ralph Lauren. Her upcoming album, When the Dogwoods Bloom, is heavily inspired by her experience of falling in love and becoming a mother.

Both truthful and relatable, Federers newest single is a touching ballad that is utterly mesmerizing. Standing is the first single off of When the Dogwoods Bloom, out later this year, and is now available on iTunes.
