LOS ANGELES (Domo Records/ www.domo.com) - Domo Records announced today that it will release Sacred Journey of Ku-kai: Vol. 2, the latest album by internationally acclaimed, GRAMMY - winning composer and musician Kitaro, exclusively on iTunes beginning immediately. The iTunes prerelease will be available for 10 weeks prior to the album street date, currently set for February 22, 2005.

Sacred Journey of Ku-kai: Vol. 2 is part of Kitaro's latest project, a series of recordings dedicated to peace: both internal as well as external world peace. Like the first album from the series, which was nominated for a Best New Age Album GRAMMY Award, every track on Sacred Journey of Ku-kai: Vol. 2 contains samples from ancient Japanese temple bells (Peace Bells) and is intended to inspire spiritual awakening and a profound sense of peace in its listeners.

The album title references the classic Buddhist pilgrimage to the 88 sacred temples on Japan's remote Shikoku Island, a route originally traveled by the beloved Buddhist monk Ku-kai over a millennium ago. Kitaro is following his path today, and each track on every album will revolve around the distinctive bell sound of one of the holy sites, using both actual sampling of the bells and Kitaro's elegant interpretations of them.

Kitaro's idea for the Ku-kai series was inspired by the events of September 11, 2001, which occurred while he was en route from Japan to Los Angeles. Kitaro's plane was diverted to Honolulu for five days, during which time the conceptual endeavor - which he envisioned as an artistic means to help unify people globally - took shape.
Sacred Journey of Ku-kai: Vol. 2 continues to spread Kitaro's message of "peace through music" and will hit the electronic shelves just in time for the holidays.
