Tuesday February 1 - Gilbert Kalish
Gilbert Kalish has been the head of performance faculty at SUNY Stonybrook since 1970, and pianist of the
Boston Symphony Chamber
Players since 1969. His accomplishments as an educator and a performer, including over 100 recordings, have made him a major figure in American music. Program includes new works on the theme of Bach's Goldberg Variations by composers Bolcom, C. Curtis-Smith, Fred Lerdahl, Stanley Walden, Fred Hersh, Derek Bermel, and Michael Zupko.
Tuesday March 8 – Michael Lewin
Boston Conservatory Piano Chair Michael Lewin enjoys a distinguished international reputation as one of the most gifted, important American concert pianists of his generation. He performs worldwide as an orchestral soloist, in solo recital, and as a chamber musician. Program features Debussy's Preludes Book 2, Schumann, and Liszt.
Tuesday March 22 – Eugen Indjic
French-American virtuoso Eugen Indjic makes a rare and eagerly anticipated return to Boston, where he once studied at Harvard and performed with the
Boston Symphony at age 18. His elegant playing and romantic sensibilities have made him one of Europe's most active and respected concert and recording artists. He will play Brahms' Klavierst?cke, Beethoven's Appasionata Sonata, and works by Chopin, including Mazurkas, Ballades, and Scherzos.
Tuesday April 12 – Michael
Sheppard A rising star of his generation of artists, Michael
Sheppard is a pianist of dazzling virtuosity. He has received critical acclaim as an interpreter of transcriptions of operatic work, as well as American musical theater, in addition to traditional piano repertory. Deeply committed to new music, he has worked closely with Nicholas Maw, Michael Hersch, Robert Sirota, and John Corigliano, and composes himself. Program TBA.
