AUSTIN, TX. (indie911/ www.indie911.com) - Maggie Walters' recently independently released, self-titled debut album of lyrically inventive acoustic melodies set to subtly rollicking rhythms has drawn comparisons to Grammy winners Lucinda Williams and Sheryl Crow. A mixture of modern rock, country, folk, and blues, Walters' music is like a strong cocktail with all the right ingredients. Her unique voice shifts from being at once dark and gritty to being playful, sexy, and inviting. Walters is backed on the album by some of Austin, Texas' most talented musicians, including former Shawn Colvin drummer Chris Searles, as well as George Reiff, former bass player for Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes. Austin is known as a hot bed for America's hardest working and most talented emerging musicians, so it is no surprise that Walters calls the city home. With a debut album this strong, she is sure to take her music far beyond the Texas capital. Walters has captured the attention of everyone who follows the Austin music scene, but already radio stations across the country are taking notice. KKFI in Kansas City has invited Walters to perform her song "Spin" on the station's in-studio performance show "Eclectics." Walters has also appeared on INDIE-CENT radio in Los Angeles, a product of renowned independent music website www.Indie911.com. Upcoming performances at the South By Southwest music and film festival in Austin next March, as well as the North By Northeast festival in Toronto next June, are sure to open more eyes in the music industry to her songwriting. Until then, Walters is busy touring with the following confirmed date: Tues. 1/25/05 - Austin, TX The Cactus Cafe
