PHOENIX, AZ. (Statue Records/ www.walkercaine.com) - The music industry has seen its' share of ups and downs and curves and jiggles, but rarely a blast like it's getting from Walker Caine and the new CD release "Soft Shoulder". The Walker Caine Project is the work of musicians who have ridden up to 3 decades of the music roller-coaster. What makes this unlikely clan different than any of the thousands of new bands that bombard our ears every day? "Well, we're pretty nonchalant in our outlook and the music is really fairly raw instead of over-processed" says Walker Caine. "We've been there, done that, even sat around and played Joe Suburban executroid; but the music still calls. We're not competing with the kids or targeting any particular age group; we are just taking it back to a basic art form and making it up as we go. It's not a genre, it's an attitude." As unique as the attitude and as comfortable as the music are the names behind the project; Walker Caine (vocals, guitars), Gus L. DaBere (drums), Bobboo Fox (guitars), and Abby Normal (strings, piano, bass). "Abby is the baby of the bunch but she can play just about everything I put in front of her; she's been my angel on several songs" claims Walker. "We've all known each other for years making this very much a family type project. Even my wife and kids are involved; I wouldn't have it any other way." Also given credits in the band are Horst Zaspel (guitar) of Kassel, Germany and Bob Bauer (bass) of Arizona. So while other people their age are feeding college funds and planning retirement strategies, the Walker Caine Project embarks on a new direction with an original style in an unforgiving industry. "Every once in a while a band comes along and shows that it is alright to be different and break some rules; I think that's where we come in. Soft Shoulder shows that a way of life ends up choosing you rather than the other way around." Soft Shoulder by the Walker Caine Project was recorded in Omaha, NE and Phoenix, AZ in cooperation with MLA Records; and is distributed by Statue Records in California, the largest independent label on the American West Coast.
