With A Soprano Reminiscent Of Dolly And Emmylou, Michaela Anne Brings Both Heartache And Harmony On 'Bright Lights And The Fame' (5.13)
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Raised in a military family and logging years immersed in New York's music community, songwriting maverick Michaela Anne -- who delivered 'Ease My Mind,' one of 2014's Top 5 Best Country Albums (The Village Voice) -- shimmers and shines on 'Bright Lights and the Fame' (Kingswood Records), due May 13.

Released two years after her relocation to Nashville from Brooklyn, Michaela Anne --who has claimed her place among singers who go their own way, looking to the timeless with little regard for passing trends -- has crafted a collection of songs that range from revved-up roots rockers to honky tonk-inspired tracks that pack an Americana/alt-country punch.

Long before she embarked on her first tour as a musician, Michaela traveled the country with her military family, living on different naval bases throughout her childhood. A similar wanderlust fills her writing, whose "tart twang" (New York Times) makes room for character-driven songs that mix heartache and harmony.

Produced by Dan Knobler and partially co-written with GRAMMY nominee Dave Brainard (Brandy Clark), 'Bright Lights and the Fame' mixes Michaela's voice -- a swooning soprano that's "reminiscent of Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton" (CMT) -- with contributions from a band of sympathetic pickers and harmony singers.

She gets a little help from her friends, too. Only two years into her Nashville residence, Michaela has developed quite the social circle, with everyone from country legend Rodney Crowell to Punch Brother Noam Pikelney, lending their efforts to her third career project. With an album filled with star power though, it's Michaela's star that shines the brightest, mixing the classic country sounds of an old soul with the modern flair of a hit-maker on the rise.

She'll make you listen ... and she'll make you believe.
