U2 tops US Album Chart with 840,000 in the first week

NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - From Dublin, Ireland, on the Top of the world! Irish quartet's new album 'How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb' held onto the No. 1 spot on The Billboard 200 US Album Chart after its first full week of retail sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan. U2's new album sold 840,000 copies during its first week in US stores.
It also marks the best-selling first week in the recent history of the Irish band, since album "All That You Can't Leave Behind" entered at No 3 (2000).

The band's 13th album in 25 years knocked Eminem's 'Encore' off the top of the USA Album Chart after two weeks out front. Eminem's "Encore" is remaining the best-selling album of this season (Fall) with 1.4 million copies only in two weeks!
The US Albums chart continues to have Shania Twain's "Greatest Hits" at No 3, while Toby Keith's "Greatest Hits" climbed at No 5.
Gwen Stefani's "Love, Angel, Music, Baby" debuted on the US charts at No 7 (309,000) and it marks another Top 10 album hit in her career.
