Alex Winters Partners With Georgetown Project For 'Black Roses' CD Release
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) It's been 5 years since Alex Winters released a new record, and her latest EP "Black Roses" is a collection of her best work over the past few years. Alex has transitioned from an acoustic singer/songwriter toward a more edgy sound that shows she isn't afraid to explore the dark to find the light. Looking at a more somber side of her past while working on the new EP led Alex to partner with The Georgetown Project and assist them in their mission to help children through various initiatives in the community. This association will culminate with a CD Release Show at Two Rivers Tavern in Georgetown on Saturday, November 21, 2015. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated directly to the Georgetown Project. (Tickets available here: https://blackrosesep.bpt.me)

Alex Winters is an accomplished musician who routinely plays in the Austin & Georgetown area. Her sound is a combination Alternative Pop with a Rock edge. A poet by nature, Alex's songs are very lyric based and she connects with her audience by telling stories of everyday life that they can relate to. Everyone understands love, loss, desire, abandonment and hope. Tapping into memories of her own youth reminded Alex how important a support system can be to a child growing up in difficult circumstances and the Georgetown Project provides things she wishes she could have had when times weren't always easy.

The Georgetown Project identifies needs and develops resources and services so that our youth become caring, capable and resilient individuals. The initiative was started 19 years ago to monitor the health and well-being of area children through positive relationship building between youth and adults. Community programs developed by the Georgetown Project include Kid City, the After School Action Program, NEST, and the Youth Summit. "We are really excited to get to know Alex and truly appreciate this wonderful opportunity. To have such a talented musician connect with The Georgetown Project and reach out to help the kids we serve is just amazing! Alex understands that sometimes kids face what seem to be insurmountable challenges growing up, and she is a shining example of what can happen when you persevere and follow your dreams. Her support through "Black Roses" will make a big difference right here in her hometown" ~ Leslie Janca, Executive Director, The Georgetown Project
