Yamaha Awards Two Percussive Arts Society Scholarships To Young Music Educators
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) "Yamaha, PAS and Terry Gibbs share a deep commitment to ensuring that current and upcoming educators receive vital support, since music education is a pillar of everything we do," said Troy Wollwage, marketing manager, Yamaha Percussion.

Yamaha and the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) recently awarded scholarships to Emily Sgouros and Jade Hails. The two percussionists were recognized for their facility on their instruments and steadfast commitment to music education.

Sgouros is the recipient of the PAS/Yamaha Terry Gibbs Scholarship, named for the Yamaha Artist and PAS Hall of Fame jazz vibraphone player. Currently a jazz performance major at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City, Sgouros specializes on the vibraphone and plans to attend graduate school for either music performance or composition.

Hails, winner of the 2015 PASIC/Yamaha Scholarship, is a junior at Oregon State University, where he performs with the Oregon State Marching Band, which plays Yamaha percussion and brass. Specializing on the snare drum and marimba, Hails double majors in percussion performance and music education and plans to pursue a master's degree in one of those fields.

"These scholarships reward deserving young percussionists who are committed to forging the future of music education," said Troy Wollwage, marketing manager, Yamaha Percussion. "Yamaha, PAS and Terry Gibbs share a deep commitment to ensuring that current and upcoming educators receive vital support, since music education is a pillar of everything we do."
