 LOS ANGELES (Famous Music/ Concord Records) - Grammy-winning Afro-Latin band Ozomatli has signed a worldwide administration agreement with Famous Music Publishing, the worldwide music publishing division of Viacom's Paramount Pictures. The announcement was made jointly by Ira Jaffe, Famous Music President and COO, and Carol Spencer, Senior Creative Director, for the publishing company. The agreement covers Ozomatli's recently-released Street Signs, the band's first full-length studio album in three years, on their new label Concord Records (distributed by Universal). The first single is "(Who Discovered )America". Taking their unique blend of hip-hop and Latin music to a new global level, the album also features veteran Moroccan sintir master Hassan Hakmoun, acclaimed French-Jewish gypsy violinists Les Yeux Noir and The Prague Symphony, plus the legendary Eddie Palmieri, Los Lobos singer-guitarist David Hidalgo, among others.
Highlighted on the Top Alternative New Artist chart, Street Signs is being supported by Ozomatli who are currently on a major national tour through 2004. Saturday Night, a track from the album, was featured on the new ABC-TV Kelly Osborne show "Life As We Know It", October 14. Spencer said: "We are so proud to welcome Ozomatli to Famous Music. Their longevity coupled with their artistic growth throughout their career is impressive enough without considering that they are also thoughtful and caring individuals. They add a unique dimension to an already strong and eclectic roster."
