Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation Now Accepting Applications For 2016 Grant Programs
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation announced today that it is accepting applications for its 2016 Research Grant and Preservation Grant programs, which are designed to enhance and preserve the rich contribution of Latin music and its makers to the world's culture. Each grant program, consisting of two awards with a maximum cash value of $5,000 each, is open to music and cultural institutions, nonprofit organizations as well as individuals and scholars around the world with projects related to the research and preservation of Latin music genres. Applicants will be selected through a competitive process guided by a committee of professional experts across the Latin region. Applications are now available at www.latingrammyculturalfoundation.com and the deadline to apply is Nov. 2, 2015, at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Research Grants will support Latin music projects presented by institutions and individuals internationally. Historical Latin music research, anthropology, documentation of Latin music traditions, and Latin music folklore are encouraged.

Preservation Grants will support projects presented by institutions and individuals around the world that aim to archive and preserve the heritage of Latin music.

Projects related to the Latin music culture of these 24 countries are eligible: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, the United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
Earlier this year, the Latin GRAMMY Foundation awarded four noteworthy projects with a $5,000 grant to assist the organizations' efforts of furthering their respective missions and objectives. The recipients of the first grants were The New Sounds Of Marimba (Cali, Colombia); Bullerengue Universal (New York); Aumbata:, All Voices (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic); and Preserving The Puerto Rican Hellfighters' Music Legacy (New York).
