First-Time Austin Filmmakers Jason And Krissi Lindsey Selected For Austin Short Film Fest
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Independent filmmakers Jason and Krissi Lindsey are proud to announce the acceptance of their film Loving Olivia into the 2015 Austin Short Film Fest. The July event will showcase 38 films from six countries including Spain, Singapore, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the USA.

"We are thrilled to have been selected for this honor," said Krissi Lindsey of Austin. "My husband Jason and I poured our hearts into writing the movie and bringing together the talent to help shape our vision. To be chosen for our very first film makes this particularly exciting."

Loving Olivia stars local actors Avery Merrifield and Caiti Ward. It is the story of love-struck John, who fails to notice girlfriend Olivia's quirky behavior until he introduces her to a group of friends. The character Olivia is based on the real-world Twitterbot @oliviataters created by The Colbert Report writer Rob Dubbin, who programmed the bot to mimic a teenage girl by using popular slang and mashing together trending phrases.

Lindsey adds, "When we discovered @oliviataters and the story behind the algorithm, we were immediately obsessed with it. We were even more intrigued to learn that younger generations believed her to be real despite the ridiculousness of her tweets. What made Olivia so realistic to others? Has written communication devolved so significantly that fragmented sentences are now the norm for some? Once the horror of an acronym-laden future passed, comedy took hold. We had to bring Olivia to life and have her hang out with grown-ups."

The Austin Short Film Fest takes place at the Galaxy Highland 10 Theater (6700 Middle Fiskville Rd) in Austin on Wednesday, July 29, and Thursday, July 30. Loving Olivia runs just under 16 minutes and will be shown at 7:45pm on July 30. Tickets may be purchased by visiting https://www.AustinShortFilm.com.

Loving Olivia is also an official selection for the 2015 Harrisburg-Hershey Film Festival, which will take place at Midtown Cinema (250 Reily St) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on September 11, 2015 at 6pm. Tickets may be purchased by visiting https://harrisburghersheyfilmfestival.com/tickets/.
