New York, NY (Top40 Charts) After almost two years of wholehearted effort, Beijing punk rock band The Bedstars are set to release their debut album this summer. Wet Hearts & Dry Vomit, captures the rollicking spirit of Beijing's perennially favorite barroom heroes while welcoming you into a party you fear you may never want to leave.
This long-awaited album, including eleven tracks composed throughout the early life of the band, blends hard alcohol and strong hormones into a potent cocktail perfectly suited for Beijing's hot summer nights. Distinct and layered arrangements and catchy melodies along with the lead singer's devil-may-care vocal performance help form the band's unique style, but under their raucous and tumultuous performance you can hear classic blues groove and elements reminding listeners of The
Rolling Stones and 70s' punk scene predecessor Johnny Thunders, both bands the Bedstars pay tribute to.
Zhao Kai, lead singer of the band, composed almost all the lyrics in English and draws inspiration from writers like Arthur Rimbaud revealing the band's cynical attitude towards life. The album's title, Wet Hearts & Dry Vomit, is taken from the lyrics to 3rd Circle Of Hell and sums up their state of life ---- rock n' roll dehydrated them while alcohol aids as their lifeblood. No posturing here, that's just how they live, and the album is an invitation to the world to join them in their very own third circle of hell.
