New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Shades releases "Balloon", the second single off of their self-released album
Common Desire due out July 31, 2015 . Shades builds a soundscape of cool, dark melodies that bring out the very essence of dream pop.
The song title directly reflects noises heard throughout "Balloon." While recording, the band bought a pack of balloons and captured the sounds of the pops. The sounds of the balloons are seamlessly woven into the chorus and make for an innovative transition. The band explains that, "The main theme for the album is color and how it correlates with each and every song." This feeling is intensified in the aqueous qualities of "Balloon" that help paint vibrant, colorful pop throughout.
Shades has captured the attention of established music outlets like Stereogum and has been featured in Paste Magazine's "10 Idaho Bands You Should Listen to Right Now." The synth-driven pop band based out of Boise, Idaho formed in 2011 by friends Louie Bash (synthesizers, sampling),
David Mikkelson (lead vocals), Nathan Hope (drums), and Tom Racine (guitar). Shades live shows highlight their color and sound concept. Their custom-built lighting rig is digitally linked to each song and contains carefully calculated patterns of color depending on the particular song.
Everything that Shades does is self-produced whether it be photos, videos, artwork or live production, it is all done by the band, and they are grateful to share their vision with those who appreciate it.
