Colette Carr Evolves On Unapologetic New EP 'Static. Start.'
LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) Los Angeles-based songwriter Colette Carr teamed up with long-time collaborator Frankmusik to create the colorful, electro-pop sound on her new EP, 'Static. Start.' Out on Kawaii Nation this summer, the EP marks the arrival of four new tracks from Colette. Lead single "Static" will be released on June 30th, followed by the full EP later this summer, and more new music to roll out over the next year.

Merging hypnotic singing with a bold new groove, Carr explores her versatility on the track "Static", which is "a song about choosing to let go and drift away. I'm unbound...and it helps me evolve." She blends the electronic-styled production with both her unapologetically honest songwriting ("Moments In Love") and surprising vulnerability ("Walking in Place", "3%"). "It really shows off a side of myself that I was terrified of. I took a risk. I wanted to...push myself to sing about experiences I didn't even want to talk about."

Carr cites the poetic lyricism of Morrissey and The Smiths, Method Man's lyrical visualizations and conviction, and the commanding stage presence of Debbie Harry as major inspirations. Explaining her "very necessary" transition, Carr describes her new sound as a "natural evolution that needed to happen," continuing, "I live to blend colors and pave new roads. My music is a creative experiment and I don't stick to formulas or follow guidelines." Carr credits 'Static. Start.' as the beginning of her journey as an independent artist taking charge of her musical path, and she's ready to share her new work with the world.

Initially discovered by producer and entrepreneur Nick Cannon, Carr was formally signed to Ncredible/Cherrytree/Interscope Records. Carr's early success includes the release of her debut full-length, 'Skitszo', her breakout video for "Back It Up" (which landed the top spot on MTV's charts), and being named "No. 1 Uncharted Artist" by Billboard magazine. She was also recently part of the successful iHeartRadio "On The Rise" tour in 2014 alongside Jake Miller, Becky G., T. Mills and Mike Stud.
