New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Few musicians are credited as being the "father" of an entire genre of music. Sam Bush, the "Father of Newgrass," has paved the way for Bluegrass, Newgrass, Americana and
Jam Band music alike - in addition to becoming an all-around musical icon. Now, the world will know just how widespread Bush's impact has been.
Revival: The Sam Bush Story is a documentary chronicling Sam's life and musical journey. Produced by Wannabe Films and See Forever Entertainment and co-directed by Wayne
Franklin and Kris Wheeler, the film will make its world debut at the Nashville Film Festival April 21 at Regal Green Hills Cinema.
"Even though Sam is revered by so many music greats he remains something of an unknown legend for the uninitiated," Wheeler said. "So, for those who aren't aware of Sam's story, this will be a discovery film. And, honestly, that — more than anything else — is what drew me to this project."
Many well-known artists appear in the film including Alison Krauss, John Oates, Emmylou Harris, Béla Fleck, Ricky Skaggs, the
Avett Brothers and more.
Revival will compete with 11 other music documentaries in the festival's Gibson
Music Films/Music City Competition. These 11 films were selected from more than 3,500 entries submitted to the festival.
