New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Rising and established stars are on the bill for the Music City-based Galaxie Agency's annual talent showcase during the International Blues Challenge (IBC). The dynamic line-up of national acts will take the stage at B.B. King's on Beale Street from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 22. Admission is free to all IBC badge holders.
Hand-picked by Galaxie founder and president Gina Hughes, the line-up includes Grammy winning producer and songwriter Gary Nicholson performing as Whitey Johnson, 2015 BMA-nominees the Andy T-Nick Nixon Band, 2012 IBC finalist Bart Walker of Royal Southern Brotherhood, past BMA nominee Gina Sicilia, JUNO Award winner Crystal Shawanda, soul/R&B torchbearers Markey Blue and Ted Drozdowski's Scissormen trio, featuring Keeping the Blues Alive Award winner Ted Drozdowski, who will also emcee the event. The show is also sponsored by the Nashville Blues Society.
A custom cigar box guitar made by Little Johnny Kantreed will be given away along with several gift baskets containing certificates from clubs and restaurants, and other surprises. All attendees will be given a ticket for the drawing. Additional tickets will be given to those who make a donation at the showcase to the Blues Foundation's Generation Blues initiative for blues education.
