LOS ANGELES (Curb Records) - Following their newly released self-titled Curb Records debut album, deSoL, a very special band of seven "brothers" from New Jersey with inherent global appeal, is embarking on its first-ever international tour, with dates opening for rock legends
R.E.M. and reggae masters The Wailers.
Curb Records, one of the largest independent labels in the world, has firmly dedicated itself to this exhilarating new project in anticipation of deSoL's arrival in a number of cities following several high profile TV performances, including New York's CBS 2 This Morning, NBC 10 Philadelphia's 10! Show and CN8 Your Morning, and several visits to the nationally syndicated Joey Reynolds Show, where the band has become house favorites.
deSoL's vibrant and colorful live show - an infectious musical display that forces audience members out of their seats - has been pivotal in seeing the band land the cover of Upstage Monthly and more praise in The Boston Globe, New York Press, Music Row, Philadelphia Daily News, Atlanta Latino, Nashville City Paper, Philadelphia City Paper, Baltimore Sun, Philadelphia Magazine, KYW News Radio, The Tennessean and Nuevos Americans, among others.
deSoL, the album, captures the exhilarating live show that has been keeping audiences mesmerized, from the legendary Stone Pony in its home base of Asbury Park, N.J., to the throngs at Bonnaroo and Miami's Pro Player Stadium. deSoL's songs have layer upon layer of hooks, from the obvious to the most subtle places, creating infectious, impassioned music whose melodic, romantic melodies are countered by lead singer Albie Monterrosa's clever lyrics and Soto's searing lead guitar.
Together, they combine to pull in audiences, while the rest of deSoL propels the world-folk elements and Afro-Cuban rhythms that keep pelvises undulating at every show.
Knight-Ridder News Service gave the album a "B+" while Nashville City Paper hailed deSoL for its "vibrant appeal" and having "the same infectious, rousing sound and exciting mix of Latin rhythms and American pop and rock elements previously popularized by such bands as Azteca, Malo and the original Santana ensemble."
The new debut album from deSoL represents a lifetime of work, thoughtfully planned out over the band's 2-year existence. Each member of the band - also percussionists Armando Cabrera and James Guerrero, keyboardist Andy Letke, bassist Chris Guice and drummer George Saccal - brings his own heritage from his individual ancestral bloodline: Cuba, El Salvador, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico and, most importantly, America.
As deSoL sings in "Spanish Radio," America is "doing the Latin beat." And with their energetic live show, the band will indeed make sure of it.
