LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) This week, fans of two-time Grammy-nominee recording artist Childish Gambino noticed a black-out across all of rapper/vocalist/actor's social media sites. For an artist whose lyrics define him, his silence speaks volumes. Reactions have raised more questions than answers and has provoked thought and discussion amongst Gambino fans.
On Reddit, speculation centered on protest efforts taking place across the country - Gambino frequently examines the topic of racial identity in his verses. On thebeatdfw.com, Roneswintern noted that the occurrence coincided with the first anniversary of Childish Gambino's Because The Internet album.
Gambino's manager, Famuel Rothstein's, of LA-based management firm Wolf + Rothstein, social media statement has been similar. His Twitter profile photo features an image of a lone figure holding a rose to the sky framed by #UnitedBlackout and #BlackoutForChange.
Currently, Childish Gambino is nominated for two Grammy Awards. He is a contender for Best Rap Album for Because The Internet (Glassnote Records) and Best Rap Performance for his single, "3005."
