2013 proved to be a life-altering year for Orisha, beginning with the release of her solo album Cupid last summer. The album launched her into stardom as the reggae singer quickly gained notoriety through radio airplay and exposure at numerous reggae festivals. Produced by award winning South African producer Alexis Faku and Shel-K, the latest single features sexy, electric guitar licks and classic reggae drums. "Gimmi The Beat" opens with Orisha's sweet vocals as she sings her heartfelt lyrics. The song reflects on numerous political strains, including the recent events in Jamaica, Africa and Ukraine. It's a powerful reggae sound that has intertwining vocals from Shel-K and Orisha Sound. Orisha says, "it's the first big step in embracing more of the reggae sound that is in her heart.
