Splice Opens Up Its Platform To All Musicians And Unveils New Product
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Splice, a cloud-based platform for music creation, collaboration and sharing announced today it has raised $4.5 million in a Series A round of funding led by True Ventures with participation from Scooter Braun, Tiësto, Steve Angello, AM Only, WME, Plus Eight Equity Fund LP, as well as existing investors such as Union Square Ventures. The company also announced today it has moved from private beta into open beta and introduced its latest product, the DNA Player, which helps artists visualize music's source code.

"As a producer and performer who is constantly on the road, easy collaboration during moments of free time is really key to laying down new tracks." said Steve Angello, producer and DJ. "This is often easier said than done with the disconnected way all of our tools as musicians currently work. Splice is finally bringing everything together on one seamless platform that allows musicians to focus on what we do best - create."

Since launching in private beta in October 2013, the team at Splice has worked to roll out features directly sourced from user feedback. Now compatible with a growing list of digital audio workstations like Ableton Live, FL Studio and Logic X, Splice operates in two ways - a private cloud-based studio and an online community. Using the private studio musicians can focus entirely on the creative process by seamlessly syncing their projects with the cloud, keeping track of all changes and easily sharing them with collaborators from a detailed timeline. On the community side of Splice, musicians can share their work for others to remix, discover new artists to collaborate with, and showcase the story behind their music with the DNA Player.

The DNA Player allows musicians and their fans to engage with a song in a new way, fully visualizing its composition including each segment with annotations from the creator. Today, rising stars Henry Fong and J-Trick are the first artists to release through Splice's DNA Player. With their latest song "Scream," forthcoming on Tiësto's label Musical Freedom, the two artists are enabling a deeper connection with their fan base beyond the traditional MP3 by exposing the ingredients to the song, and releasing its raw project session file, available on Splice Oct. 6.

"Musical Freedom is excited to be working with Splice on this unique release of a track," said Andrew Goldstone, General Manager, Musical Freedom. "We believe that Splice represents an amazing new avenue in the world of music production and we look forward to doing many more groundbreaking things together."

Steve Martocci and Matt Aimonetti founded Splice to streamline music production by applying the practices engineers use to develop, collaborate on and share code. "We built a platform that allows musicians to focus solely on the creative process without interruption and are excited to open up the beta to all musicians today." said Martocci, CEO, Splice. "We're thrilled to see music veterans alongside up and coming artists work with us in different capacities to bring the industry up to speed with technology." Splice has raised $7.25 million in funding to date from additional investors, including Union Square Ventures, Lerer Ventures, First Round Capital, SV Angel, Box Group and others.
