Music Award-winning and BAFTA nominated composer Inon Zur crafts an emotional acoustic score for Arclight Films' and Paradox Entertainment's RECLAIM, a new suspense-thriller inspired by real-life events, starring John Cusack (Lee Daniels' 'The Butler', 'The Frozen Ground'), Ryan Phillippe ('The Lincoln Lawyer', 'Flags of Our Fathers'), Rachelle Lefevre ('Twilight', 'White House Down'), Academy Award®-nominee Jacki Weaver ('Silver Linings Playbook', 'The Five-Year Engagement') and Luis Guzmán ('Traffic', 'Carlito's Way'). RECLAIM opens in select US theaters and On Demand through Lionsgate Home Entertainment on
September 19. The score will be released digitally by Silva Screen Records on
September 15 with a physical CD release to follow on October 14.
Written by award-winning Australian writer Luke Davies ('Candy'), based on an original screenplay by Carmine Gaeta and directed by internationally acclaimed director Alan White ('Erskineville Kings'), RECLAIM is a penetrating thriller in which nothing is what it seems to be. When the newly adopted daughter of American couple, Steven (Phillippe) and Shannon (Lefevre) goes missing while the family is abroad, they quickly discover that all is not what it seems with the adoption agency - and find themselves in a fight for their lives when they encounter
Benjamin (Cusack) and Reigert (Weaver), the culprits behind a high-stakes human-trafficking ring. To expose the truth and save their daughter, Steven and Shannon will have to risk everything... Including their lives.
Inon Zur's original score features an emotionally powerful combination of rich, sweeping strings, performed by the Macedonia
Radio Symphonic Orchestra, delicate piano and acoustic guitar matched with dramatic orchestral writing and percussion for the action chase sequences. Describing his approach to scoring the film, Zur said, "First and foremost I related to the story as a parent. Your instinct is to protect your child, whatever the circumstances, so I wanted the music to reflect the couple's desperate struggle to get Nina back, no matter the danger or cost."
Filmed on location in Puerto Rico, director Alan White and the film's producers sought to set RECLAIM apart from other films in the genre. So in addition to employing the lush sounds of the symphony orchestra, piano and traditional acoustic guitar palette, Zur experimented with different techniques on a bowed guitar to produce unusual string sounds and effects which were combined to evoke unease and tension during the edgier scenes of the film.
"Inon Zur created an orchestral soundtrack that is truly emotionally dynamic - a score in which every cue stands alone as a wonderful piece of music," said White. "Truly an artist, Inon is also a great creative thinker and collaborator who discovered the song for the movie at a school talent show. Written and performed by an 11-year-old girl about struggling to make sense of growing up, "Fighting the World" is a perfect fit for the film."
RECLAIM is produced by Brian Etting ('A Good Old Fashioned Orgy', 'Relative Strangers'), Josh Etting ('Relative Strangers', 'The Godfather of Green Bay'), Fredrik Malmberg ('Ain't Them Bodies Saints', 'Let Me In', 'Reasonable Doubt'), Gary Hamilton ('Lord of War', 'The Bank Job', 'Wolf Creek'), Silvio Muraglia ('Prayers for Bobby', 'Tale of the Mummy', 'High Speed'), Mike Gabrawy ('Bait', 'Resident Evil'), Robert Luketic ('21', 'Paranoia'), and Ian Sutherland ('Variety Parade', 'Hot News').
