The Capitol Theatre And Headcount Award Scholarships For Ten Local Teachers To Attend Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Shore Fire Media) The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY along with voter awareness and registration non-profit HeadCount.org have awarded scholarships for ten hardworking local teachers to attend a special two-day curriculum-training program at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, OH taking place July 31 and August 1. The teachers will receive training on bringing rock and roll history into their classrooms, with an emphasis on activism and music's role as an agent of change. The educators will delve into topics and discussions such as music as a social force and a history of music festivals before they explore the museum and its extensive collection of artifacts. When the teachers return, The Cap will host a celebratory fun-filled night at Garcia's on Wednesday, August 6.

The teachers were exclusively selected by The Cap and all costs of the program were covered by The Capitol Community Fund, the theatre's charitable program administered by HeadCount. In its second year, The Capitol Community Fund has tripled the number of scholarship recipients up from three in 2013 to ten in 2014.

The teachers range from elementary to high school educators and span disciplines from art to math; music to history. Of the program, fifth grade teacher, Tiffany Morris of Mount Pleasant, NY says she hopes that the training "will help my goal of getting students to grasp hardships of other Americans, given the role music has had through history." The teachers hail from several local school districts including Lakeland Central in Shrub Oak, NY, Chappaqua Central in Chappaqua, NY, Hudson Union Free in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY and Port Chester Union Free in Port Chester, NY.
