New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Lords of Ruin official website) Orange County, CA based Lords of Ruin have posted their new single "The Darker Side Of Life" online at https://soundcloud.com/lordsofruin/the-darker-side-of-life/s-OOPBQ.
"Lyrically this song was written about a darkness inside of me that I used to live in" states Lords of Ruin vocalist
Lauren Boquette (Drown, SiX, Famous). "This darkness was totally normal to me and I didn't see things any other way for a very, very long time. Funny thing though I never really knew I was even living in a dark place until one day it dawned on me that I had changed. Colors seemed to shine much brighter, the air & the ocean were alive, music which was always magic to me was even better and love was all around. After many years of feeling disconnected from this world something switched and I plugged right into its core. I saw just how amazing this life can be and I now see a rich beauty in most things. It sounds really hippie or like some sort of religious nonsense but it isn't. It's the amazing thing called life and you only get one of them!
Embrace it with all of your heart and live it as best you can. I can tell you first hand that when you step out of the darkness...life truly happens. I am grateful that I am from the darker side of life because without that, I would have never found the light.
Musically one night at rehearsal guitarist Jimmy
Craig & bassist
Travis Dunn kicked into this dark, heavy Sabbath meets Alice in Chains type of a groove, which inspired me start singing what became the song's chorus:
"You want to know about loss? I know what lost is, I've seen the darker side of life, the darker side of life… From that moment on the song sort of wrote itself"
