Biography

Emma Heesters (born January 8, 1996) is a Dutch singer, songwriter, and YouTube personality renowned for her covers of popular songs. She was born in 's-Gravenpolder, Zeeland, Netherlands. From a young age, Heesters displayed a passion for music and performance, beginning vocal and dance lessons, including ballet. At eight, she won the provincial preselection of the Kinderen voor Kinderen Songfestival in 2004, performing while in a wheelchair due to a broken leg. This performance marked her television debut on NPO Zapp. During her teenage years, she sang in various cover bands before focusing on her solo career after completing her education. In 2013, she graduated from the Dalton Plan school Roncalli in Bergen op Zoom with a havo certificate, specializing in the economy and society profile.

Heesters launched her YouTube channel in 2014, gaining widespread recognition in 2017 with her cover of Luis Fonsi's "Despacito" alongside Jason Chen, which rapidly amassed millions of views. Her international breakthrough came in 2019 with the duet "Pa Olvidarte" with Rolf Sanchez, earning triple platinum status in the Netherlands. That same year, she became the first Dutch winner of MTV's Push Award and participated in the Dutch television program "Beste Zangers."

In 2020, Heesters released her first original single, "Waar Ga Je Heen," reaching number 12 on the Dutch charts. She continued to release successful collaborations, including "Alles Wat Ik Mis" with Ronnie Flex and "Rendez-vous" with Belgian singer Metejoor. Her YouTube channel features covers in multiple languages, attracting a global audience, particularly in India and Indonesia. In 2022, she performed at the Sunburn Festival in Goa, India.

Heesters is in a relationship with professional footballer Wesley Hoedt. In November 2024, she announced a career hiatus following a diagnosis of cervical cancer.
